| WORKSHOP: Energy Management in Plastics Processing |
| Instructor: Dr. Robin Kent |
|
Energy management is often seen as a difficult, expensive exercise that has little or no bearing on practical production. Many managers consider it a fixed and uncontrollable overhead and give it a low priority.
In fact, energy efficiency is variable and controllable and reducing energy use can be a key contributor to good productivity. It costs very little to start practically managing and reducing energy usage and cost and companies can realize huge savings with little or no additional expenditure.
This 4 hour Workshop covers all the basics of energy management for plastics processors:
- Management
- Monitoring and targeting
- Services
- Processing methods - injection molding, extrusion and blow moulding
- Operations
Dr Robin Kent
Dr. Robin Kent, founder and managing director of U.K.- based consulting engineers Tangram Technology Ltd., is a specialist in this field. In this Workshop, he will use his 37 years of plastics processing experience to demystify energy management for all types of processors.
Dr Kent has helped countless plastics companies to better understand the energy usage in their production plants, starting with where, when, why and how energy is being consumed. He helps managers establish practical measures in the areas of motivation and training, basic machine usage and setting, and performance recording. He offers extremely practical tips for reducing energy use in utilities such as water, compressed air and general building services, and for purchasing energy most effectively.
